World Suicide Prevention Day 2020 is on Thursday 10th September. It is an awareness day which aims to provide a worldwide commitment and actions to prevent suicides. This year’s theme is ‘Working together to prevent suicide’ which embodies the work and ethos of Newcastle Suicide Prevention Task Group.
This has been a challenging year for many people within our community living with Covid-19. Joining together to prevent suicide is critical and the positive benefits are infinite, maintainable and can have a massive impact on individuals, families and the community.
Newcastle Festival of Life 2020 will form part of a larger campaign running from 10th September to World Mental Health Day on 10th October focusing on Positive Mental Wellbeing. This is the 8th year of this celebration and due to current guidelines and restrictions adaptations have needed to be made to this year’s programme of activities.
We are pleased to be able to offer a full programme of activities which we hope will provide support at this difficult and worrying time. We hope through learning new skills, raising awareness of suicide prevention, coming together in a online community to connect and take notice we will encourage people to know that help is available for themselves or for family and friends who are struggling. We would like to thank National Lottery Community Fund for funding the festival. For more details see Press Release Festival of Life 2020
